Playing with Asus O!Play Air HDP-R3

I got chance to try ASUS O!Play Air HDP-R3. Short words, it’s a digital storage player (you can use external HDD connected via USB or e-SATA or use the build-in card reader) and support RCA Composite or HDMI video output up to 1080p and analog or SPDIF out via Optical. Wired LAN also supported and for the R3, it support WiFi to. The core is based on Linux so completely upgradeable (or hackable).

It supports following formats:

Video: MPEG1/2/4,RM/RMVB,VC-1,H.264
Video File Extension: .trp,.mp4,.mov,.xvid,.avi,.divx,.asf,.wmv,.mkv,.rm,.rmvb,.flv,.ts,.m2ts,.dat,.mpg,.vob,.mts,.iso,.ifo
Audio: MP3,WAV,AAC,OGG,FLAC,AIFF,Dolby Digital AC3,Dolby Digital Plus,DTS Digital Surround,Tag ID3,Dolby True HD (downmix)
Image: JPEG,BMP,PNG,GIF,TIFF
Subtitle: SRT,SUB,SMI,SSA,TXT

Enough the introduction, this is not an advertorial. Straight to the point, I connect it to my audio system. I also need small display to navigate the menu, so I use 3.5″ LCD normally used as car reverse camera display shown below. Not the highest or sophisticated resolution though’, but who cares the display quality anyway On the back is my Duelund CAST Silver capacitor as output coupling of my Aikido Preamplifier.

More… Asus Xonar U1 Mods

After around 20 hours testing of my previous Asus Xonar U1 Mods, I think I need to add some more mods here.

I have some plans here:

Old Blu-Tack tricks
PSU capacitors bypassing

Since 20 hours is not enough to listen complete characters of my previous mod, so we can eliminate the 2nd option. Let’s go with the first option, the Blu-Tack tricks. I’ve done this Blu-Tack mod before, please check it.

Asus Xonar U1 Midnight Mods Session

Yesterday, it was at 00:00 am at the morning and I just couldn’t close my eyes. I’ve planned to mod my Asus Xonar U1, but never thought I would do it yesterday, in the middle of the night

Asus Xonar U1 is a “cheap” USB sound card, powered by C-Media Nitrogen D2 audio processor. The photo as below Cute with red/blue blinking lighting.

I want to put a warning first. Actually, modding such card will not bring outrageous result. So consider this mod is only for fun, huh… If you have extra capacitors on your shelf, extra time, and extra skill to de-solder those small capacitors inside. Let’s begin!

“Tip dan Trik ASUS Eee PC”

Nothing really important here, just want to publish my first book (scheduled on mid October 2008)… Before, I did some translation for some foreign books, but I decided to write my own. So this is the first one, and another will follow. I expect my second book will be better than this. More depth in terms of coverage and more general in terms of the potential readers.

Eee PC 900 on Hand (A Short Review)

I just received Eee PC 900. Here is some photos and comparison with my old Eee PC 700 series (4G). Enjoy it!

Photo above is the comparison between Eee PC 700 series (left) and 900 series (right). Not much different in size (and weight) between those two. The black frame surrounding the Eee PC 700 screen now has been removed on 900 series. On 900, The speakers is moved to the bottom side. The 900 series will have 8.9″ screen, compared to 7″ on 700 series. Note: I forgot to remove the plastic on 900′s screen
