No problem sih buat gue… tapi heran aja, koq pada tau ya? Bener-bener tembok-tembok ini bertelinga deh… ;)

Last week (last Saturday, 26 May 2007), Indonesian audio DIY community held a blind test session. The blind test was held at Rich Audio, ITC Permata Hijau. This time, the subject was Single Ended Amplifier. All were DIY products (except the SAC, made in Thailand). We have 12 contenders this time, divided into 2 classes, small power (less than 5 Watts RMS) and high power (over 5 Watts RMS).

Here’s the contenders.

The other equipments used were:

  • Spark CDT15 CD Player (fully modified, op-amp is running in Class A)
  • Sonic Frontier SFL-1 Signature Series (also fully modified)
  • DIY Speaker with D25 tweeter and Vifa P17 woofer in Transmission Line cabinet (MTM)
  • CDP to Pre-amp Interconnect: Oritek X2
  • Pre-amp to Amplifier Interconnect: Unsemble Ultraflex
  • Speaker Cable: Kimber 8VS

I’ve finished my Luxeon III project. It contains two Luxeon III Star (Lambertian). I design a simple voltage and current regulator based on two National Semiconductor LM317. You can adjust the current and the voltage by using few resistor or potentiometer. I will discuss about the driver on separate post (later). Now, just enjoy the project showcase first ;)

The picture above shows my project. As you can see, I use two LM317. The first one is to regulate the current, the second one is to regulate the voltage. I use two switches to set the current. All switches off means 200 mA, one switch on means 400 mA, and two switches on means 600 mA. Actually I should provide switches to set the 800 and 1000 mA. Perhaps later. The resistors used for regulating the current should be minimum 2 Watts (I use 5 Watts).

I just returned from Makassar, South Sulawesi, yesterday (after delayed around 3 hours). I arrived around 01.00 in the morning. I got a small shoot at the Losari Beach, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Taken with EOS 10D, Tamron Lens, F/2.8, 4 seconds, and ISO 100. Not a really nice shot, since I didn’t bring my tripod :( Anyway, just enjoy it!

I just check www.bluehost.com this morning to check my account. Suddenly, I was stunned with its new feature. See below.

The BIG things are:

  • 300 GB hosting space!
  • 3.000 GB traffic!
  • UNLIMITED domain! Amazing!

I have used Bluehost for about 1 year and currently very satisfied with its performance. Currently my account hosts 3 domains.

Price? Only US$ 6.95/month. Very cheap compared to its features!

If you haven’t read my previous article, please click here. I discussed the mod of MX5021′s satellites. Now, it’s time for the electronic parts ;)

I opened the Altec MX5021 subwoofer yesterday. Here’s the picture of the board inside. We can see two big rectifier, some big capacitors (removed from the board), and some op-amps (all are ST4558C).

We have two chip for amplifier here, one is TDA7265 and other is TDA7295. Both from ST. One for driving the both satellite (TDA7265, 2×25 Watt), and one for subwoofer (TDA7295, 80 Watt).

Photo above shows the removed main capacitor. Well, they come from “well known brand”, Samxon. You can see the value, 4700 uF, 2200 uF, and 1000 uF. I remove them all.

Nothing special in this post. Last night, I saw my brother brought a bottle of red wine. It was Barton and Guestier: CUVÉE SPÉCIALE. I tasted it. Not much, since I don’t drink, only at special occasion. Well, this was not the kind of red wine that I liked to drink. It tasted bitter, just like beer. It contains 12% alcohol inside. I think it is going to be nice to drink it in small amount after eating a lot of meat.

I’ve used my old Nokia 7110 for 6 year or so. I bought it when it was launched at the very first time. After using it for a very long time, I think it’s time to clean her up ;) Sometime, the slider doesn’t response well when opened.

I will not show you how to open this phone. Just for your information, you only need to open 4 screws inside the battery compartment. You need special (Torx) screwdriver in order to open them. Just pry the case from the bottom after you open all the screws. Then, open 2 screws from the main PCB. Voila, you have disassembly her completely. See the photo below.

I downloaded a movie and just realized that there was no subtitle. I looked for the subtitle file (the .SRT or .SUB or whatsoever) but found none of them in English, only in France.

I decided to visit my favorite place to translate, the Altavista’s Babelfish and gave it a try. I just realized that the onboard translation would screw up your document’s format! See the screenshot below.

Man, I couldn’t live with it! Re-formatting the document would take too much effort.

Nothing is important here. Just want to show that I’ve typed over 1.000.000 characters (with spaces) in my translating tasks (I was doing translation for a book). All was done intensively around 50 days. I spent around 3-5 hours per day in order to accomplish this. Well, here’s the statistic from Microsoft Word ;)

I woke up at Friday, 2 February 2007 and saw a great thing to make me stayed at home: flood! Luckily, my house was located quite high above the road (around 1-1,5 metre above the street line). The flood raised around 30 cm on the road outside my house. I sticked inside my house until today, Wednesday 7 February 2007 ;) No lights, no electricity, but lots of food and clean water.

Photo above was taken on the 2nd day (Saturday, 3 February 2007). My neighbors deciced to move out from their house.
