Hi,
Never tried it with IEM, but I think this caused by poor supply.
If you do really need it, you can set external 5V supply with regulator, like LM317. I'm quite confident this could remove the noise.
Thanks.

Hi
I am interested in getting a U1 as well. I read from some reviews that this usb sound card has a bit of hissing noise when listened using an IEM. May I ask if your mod would fix that?
If not, is there a way to remove the noise?
Thanks

The small capacitors are for input decoupling (line/mic level, before the relay) and the 2 large capacitors are for output decoupling into headphones. High quality low ESR capacitors (not much smaller than 1500uF), bypassed with a smaller (1uF or so) polypropylene caps should make it sound a little better.
The last remaining capacitor is for the 5v supply from the usb port IIRC.
The opamp has no role in audio output, and the c-media chip has an internal opamp/headphone amp which it uses.

Disconnecting the USB power supply and using an external one should also give better sound.

Good luck!

If only the drivers would support 44.1khz without resampling :(
